Rangers On Our Frontline

In support of conservation and sustainability, D2P is an official sponsor of The Thin Green Line, a not for profit project raising money for hundreds of Park Rangers across the world on the frontline.

Park Ranger from Victoria, Australia, Sean Willmore set off in 2004 to make a difference with a documentary of the lives and stories of rangers on 6 continents and 19 countries across the globe. “The aim of the project was to expose ‘The Thin Green Line’ in the hope that others will join Park Rangers to save what is endangered” stated Willmore.

Recognising the importance of the project and the impact it would have for rangers, their families and the environment they seek to protect from poachers, natural disasters and other threatening forces, D2P has jumped on board to become an official sponsor.

“D2P has always been committed to supporting charities and not for profit organisations whenever possible. We feel that this particular venture is most important given today’s environmental pressures. What Sean set out and has achieved so far has been inspirational and we wanted to be part of it” stated D2P’s Managing Director John Weichard.

15,000 people across 35 countries have been involved to raise money from documentary sales with 100% of the profits being returned to support rangers and their families who are killed in the line of duty. “They risk their lives for nature, so someone has to have their back and give back” stated Willmore.

“Sean’s goal was to raise awareness of the project and we knew we could help him achieve that. By developing The Thin Green Line website at www.thingreenline.org.au we have aided in generating awareness and exposure and provided a medium to collect funding from anyone, anywhere across the world” stated Weichard.

“Without the help of individuals and organisations like D2P, the project wouldn’t have been nearly as successful as what it has been so far and it's just going to get bigger and better” stated Willmore.

The official launch of The Thin Green Line Documentary was held at the Astor Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia on July 31st 2007.
